The Newmark Structural Engineering Laboratory (NSEL) has both Manually-Controlled and Servo-Controlled hydraulic equipment
. Manually-controlled hydraulic equipment includes hydraulic actuators with capacities ranging from 10 to 150 tins (11 to 330 kips) and strokes ranging from 5 to 22 inches (127 to 559 mm). These actuators can be supported by electric
and manual pumps. Servo-controlled hydraulic equipment has nominal ratings ranging from 2.5 to 230 (11 to 1,000 kN) and strokes ranging from 6 to 20 in (152 to 508 mm). These are supported by Hydraulic Power Supplies with a pressure
of 3000 psi (20.7 MPa) and an oil flow rate of up to 180 gpm (680 l/min). MTS and Instron controllers are also available to drive these actuators. Any mode of control (position, load, strain, external transducer) can be applied. Auto-tuning and adaptive control options are available in these controllers as well.

Moreover, NSEL is equipped with fatigue-rated testing frames. The load capacity of these frames range from 20 to 600 kips (89 kN to 2.7 MN). NSEL can provide
instrumentation to support any type of transducer (LVDTs, Strain Gauges, Load Cells, Accelerometers, etc.) as well. There is also a wide range of hardware (columns, I-Beams, Channels, etc.) that allow to conduct full-scale tests of structures.
